That "ambiance" was the finishing touch to this miserable visit to Tijuana Flats. Unfortunately for us, there were a number of screaming kids who were not attended to by their moms. My complaint is that the plastic containers are the size of a thimble, so we needed to constantly get up to refill them. The "hot sauce bar" was a nice idea where you could sample different spicy sauces to add flavor to your food. Nothing to get excited about or tantalize the taste buds. My boyfriend's Mexican pizza was nothing other than a flat tortilla with toppings - lettuce, jalapenos (that weren't hot), sour cream, diced tomatoes, and a smidge of cheese. They load you up with golden corn chips, but they were terribly salty and not very tasty so we ended up tossing them. Definitely more "bread" than goodies inside. It was made with a thick, chewy, tasteless flour shell, (although I could have opted for whole wheat.) There was a minimal amount of blackened chicken chunks inside along with black beans and rice. The outside decor is appealing and has a "Mexican flavor"- bright colors, multi-colored We drove by Tijuana Flats and decided to give it a try. Yesterday my boyfriend and I were craving Mexican food for lunch.
